The debate club will be going to the JSA Spring State event. It will take place at the Renaissance Woodbridge Hotel. It is a weekend event where the students will participate in several debates with students from many other schools in the Mid-Atlantic Region. The students will be leaving after school on Friday April 20th and their parents will drop them off at the hotel for the trip. Then, they will spend time preparing for and participating in debates on Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday. On Sunday afternoon, parents will be picking up the students at the hotel and bringing them back home. This event will help students hone their debate skills and help provide scholarships and other academic opportunities. This will be especially helpful to those students who are seniors and planning on participating in debate clubs at various colleges next year. I will not be going with them on the trip. Mr. Janes will be going on the trip with the students. He will be the teacher in charge for the weekend. Also, since it is on the weekend, no security will be needed. Please let me know if you need any more information. I will make sure the students and their parents fill out the correct permission slips.
