Application Process
Applications submitted for years prior to the 2025-26 school year are not carried over to the 2025-26 school year. Therefore, you must reapply for the 2025-26 school year if your child(ren) has not been previously admitted to CJCP. No application is needed for current CJCP students who are returning next year.
If you have a student currently attending CJCP and are interested in enrolling your other child(ren), an online application must be submitted for each sibling in a timely manner. If you submit an application for a sibling of a student currently enrolled at CJCP, preference may be granted to a limited extent based on available seats in each grade level. Parents should not assume automatic admission to the school through sibling preference. Further information about the process will be communicated to our parents before the admission lottery.
One application per student is allowed. If multiple applications are submitted on behalf of a student, the student will be given the least favorable space based on the lottery results. Therefore, please contact us at [email protected] if you need to make a change in the application you submitted rather than submitting another application.
Following the submission of the online application, you will receive an email from us with a confirmation number. If you do not receive it within one day after the submission, please check your junk emails. If you have not received it at all, please contact us at [email protected] to verify the proper submission of your application prior to February 15, 2025. Applications received after the deadline will be added to the waiting list in the order they are received.
Any false information provided on the application form may disqualify the application and result in dismissal of the student from the school.
Lottery Process
The lottery will be held on February 25 and March 4, 2025. It is open to the public, and parents and students are encouraged to watch the lottery via Livestream on YouTube. All applications received by the deadline will be included in the lottery. Siblings of current CJCP students receive admission preference for available slots as seats are available. Further information regarding the lottery will be shared with applicants before the lottery is conducted.
CJCP will inform all winners and waitlisted applicants via email after all lotteries are conducted to the email address provided at the time of application.
Applicants who are not selected to enroll through the lottery will be automatically placed on the waiting list in the order determined by the lottery.
Lottery winners will receive an invitation via e-mail indicating the specific paperwork necessary to complete the registration process. The parent or the legal guardian is required to complete the registration process during the enrollment period, March 7 – March 21, 2025. Electronic submission of the documents will be available.
Weighted Lottery
CJCP implements a weighted lottery that gives increased chances to individual students who are identified as economically-disadvantaged students, English Language Learners, or homeless students. Students who qualify for one of the categories mentioned above will be listed three (3) times in the lottery pool as opposed to all other students listed once. Parents are required to provide evidence to establish qualification for the weighted lottery as follows:
Economically Disadvantaged Students
A student is considered economically disadvantaged if one or more of the following conditions apply:
• The student lives in Franklin, North Brunswick or New Brunswick public housing.
• The student lives in Franklin, North Brunswick or New Brunswick Section 8 housing.
• The student or guardian qualifies for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits.
• The student already qualifies for a free or reduced-price lunch in his or her current public school.
English Language Learners
English Language Learners (ELLs) refer to students with varying degrees of English language proficiency in any one of the domains of speaking, reading, writing, or listening. Any student(s) who meet the criteria in any of the categories (1), or (2) will be tested by the school to determine qualifications for the weighted lottery:
1. The student's native language is not English: One of the following definitions must be met:
a. The student is not born in the United States, or their native language is a language other than English.
b. Native American / Native Alaskan: The child:
i. Is a Native American or Alaska Native, or a native resident of the outlying areas, and
ii. Comes from an environment where a language other than English has had a significant impact on the individual's level of English language proficiency.
c. The student is migratory, whose native language is a language other than English, and who comes from an environment where a language other than English is dominant.
2. The student is currently enrolled in an ESL Program: Provide evidence of ONE of the following:
a. ACCESS test scores or any other language proficiency test scores
